As from this month, we in Blitz have already started interviewing various individuals – including politicians, scholars, analysts, journalists, rights activists and people of various walks of life in the Russian Federation and neighboring republics, we have interviewed Mr. Gasparyan Armen Sumbatovich, Head of the Radio Content Production Department, Federal State Unitary Enterprise, International Information Agency – “Russia Today”. During the interview, Gasparyan Armen Sumbatovich said, “Today Western countries are waging an undeclared war against Russia. These include information and psychological operations and, of course, terrorist activities”.
This is the first-ever interview of any high-official of the Radio Content Production Department, Federal State Unitary Enterprise, International Information Agency – Russia Today. Here is the excerpt of the exclusive interview:
Question: We would like to mention here the cases of terrorist attacks on Crocus City Hall as well hydro-terror targeting Nord Stream. Do you think, through such acts, the Western countries are proving themselves as patrons of terror if not terrorist states?
Gasparyan Armen Sumbatovich: Today Western countries are waging an undeclared war against Russia. These include information and psychological operations and, of course, terrorist activities. The undermining of Nord Stream, as well as the terrorist attack in Crocus, are aimed at shaking up the situation inside Russia. Everyone understands this. This is what Western democracy looks like now.
Question: While Western nations claim to be fighting terrorism, counterterrorism experts say – international terrorist groups such as Al Qaeda and Islamic State are covertly or overtly serving as mercenaries of the Western intelligence establishments. What is your assessment and opinion on this matter?
Gasparyan Armen Sumbatovich: All these terrorist organizations were initially created by American and British intelligence services. They provided funding, instructors, training camps. It often happened that trained terrorists then began to fight against the West. And then democracy declared them enemies. But without answering the question: who armed them and why?
Question: From media reports we know, a very large volume of Western military hardware sent to Ukraine is ending up into the hands of terrorists and jihadists. By having free-access to weapons, do you think, the entire world, including nations in the Global South should feel worried about intensifying of terrorist threats?
Gasparyan Armen Sumbatovich: Certainly. With the current level of corruption in Ukraine, sooner or later weapons supplied by the West will end up in the hands of terrorist organizations in the Middle East. We know that weapons supplied by the United States ended up in the possession of gangster groups in Mexico. How did it get there from Kiev?

Question: On June 27, during debate, former US President Donald Trump clearly said, Ukraine is losing the war and running short of soldiers. Under this scenario, why Joe Biden and his NATO allies are still emphasizing on sending billions of dollars to Kiev and what may happen after collapse of Zelensky’s regime?
Gasparyan Armen Sumbatovich: Ukraine’s prospects are sad. For the last ten years, the state has not developed; the territory has been used to proxy the war between the West and Russia. The economy is in a deep crisis, a default and currency depreciation are possible from August 1, not to mention energy problems. All this could cause the disappearance of Ukraine as a state.
Question: In your opinion, why the West is consistently trying to silence media outlets like RT, Sputnik and other Russian media outlets who do not parrot Western propaganda narratives targeting Russian President Vladimir Putin and Russia as a whole?
Gasparyan Armen Sumbatovich: Western democracy essentially turned into totalitarianism long ago. The prohibition of dissent is one of its distinguishing features. Even during the Cold War, journalism and the media were not under such pressure as they are now. For example, I was included in one of the first sanctions packages. Madness.
Question: How much important is forming alliance within media outlets in the Global South and the world which are publishing truth and exposing notoriety of the Western nations and their funding of a proxy-war in Ukraine?
Gasparyan Armen Sumbatovich: Very important! Over the past thirty years, Western democracy has become accustomed to shaping perceptions throughout the world through its media. And we see that this is Washington’s point of view, thanks to which Serbia, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Syria were destroyed. The media began to impose views on other countries that were completely alien to them. Take, for example, sexual minorities and demands to make them almost dominant in modern society, regardless of religious traditions. It’s outrageous.
Question: As we know, Zelensky’s tenure as president expired on May 20, 2024, do you think he is continuing this war simply to prolong his tenure, and how Ukrainian people including soldiers can liberate themselves from the captivity of Zelensky and his neo-Nazi cohorts?
Gasparyan Armen Sumbatovich: Zelensky understands that he will only be alive as long as he is president. The people of Ukraine hate him for hundreds of thousands killed, destroyed cities, and a destroyed economy. And for propagating Nazi views. He even has people with the symbols of SS divisions on his guard. Therefore, he will continue the war for his own life.
Question: Why the Western nations are afraid of Russian President Vladimir Putin and why they are nervous about his tremendous popularity?
Gasparyan Armen Sumbatovich: Everything is simple here. They don’t like strong and independent people and perceive them as a threat to themselves. Today in the West there are not many politicians of the level of Churchill, Roosevelt, Thatcher. Their places are taken by managers who hate those who are different from themselves. It is sad. States cannot develop at this level of political culture.
