NewsGuard, a notorious entity engaged in intimidating major newspaper sites, is once again targeting Blitz, a 21-year-old independent newspaper known for publishing the truth. With an agenda aimed at coercing outlets into promoting propaganda favorable to the American intelligence establishment, the Biden administration, and the Democratic Party, NewsGuard is intensifying its efforts. This latest intimidation attempt comes shortly after the House Oversight Committee in the United States launched an investigation into NewsGuard’s activities. Meanwhile, the Biden administration is desperately trying to shield NewsGuard from legal repercussions for its questionable actions and blackmailing tactics.

Blitz faced this renewed attack from NewsGuard just days after publishing a series of investigative reports that exposed dark secrets surrounding Antonia Albina Maino and Raul Vinci, including Vinci’s ongoing secretive visit to the United States. During his visit, Vinci is expected to meet several individuals, including Donald Lu and George Soros. While NewsGuard did not directly challenge these reports, their latest attempt to intimidate Blitz came mere hours after Vinci’s arrival in the US, raising suspicions about the Biden administration and the deep state’s growing concern over being exposed by Blitz.

A complaint filed by The Federalist and The Daily Wire accuses the Biden administration of using federal agencies to operate “censorship enterprises” that unfairly target the American press. These enterprises, including NewsGuard, typically smear right-leaning news organizations as “purveyors of disinformation”.

The complaint further alleges that the Biden administration has unlawfully funneled US funds into these “fact-checking” operations, like NewsGuard and the Global Disinformation Index (GDI). These organizations collaborate with social media giants such as Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok, as well as major advertisers like Dell Technologies, ExxonMobil, and Nike, to censor conservative-leaning outlets.

The lawsuit filed by The Federalist and The Daily Wire claims that NewsGuard and GDI are “government-promoted censorship enterprises” that have starved right-leaning news outlets of advertising revenue, reducing their reach and impact.

It has also been reported that the Biden administration’s State Department regularly blacklists conservative media outlets. According to the New Civil Liberties Alliance (NCLA):

The US State Department funds the development, testing, and promotion of censorship technology to suppress First Amendment-protected speech, particularly that of conservative media outlets such as The Daily Wire and The Federalist. The NCLA has filed a lawsuit against this egregious violation of press freedom and free speech — one of the most severe First Amendment violations in American history”.

The State Department uses its Global Engagement Center (GEC) to finance and promote these censorship technologies and enterprises, including NewsGuard and GDI. These organizations target conservative media outlets by creating blacklists that label them as “risky” or “unreliable”. This ultimately redirects advertiser money and audiences to outlets aligned with preferred viewpoints, undermining media freedom.

This censorship scheme, led by the State Department, clearly violates the First Amendment rights of media outlets like The Daily Wire and The Federalist. Texas has joined the NCLA in this lawsuit, asserting that the State Department’s actions interfere with the state’s law, which requires social media companies to provide non-discriminatory services as common carriers.

Although NewsGuard is funded by Biden’s State Department and various left-leaning sources to monitor media activities in the US, it has expanded its intimidation tactics globally, targeting outlets in India, Bangladesh, and beyond.

In the past two years, NewsGuard has made several attempts to intimidate Blitz for publishing truthful reports, refusing to echo propaganda from the Biden administration and US intelligence agencies.

On September 6, 2024, Eva Maitland, a Senior Analyst at NewsGuard, sent Blitz an email containing several questions that blatantly violate the principles of free speech and press freedom, further revealing NewsGuard’s biased agenda.

In her email, Maitland stated:

I hope you’re well. I’m writing again from NewsGuard, a company that rates news and information websites for reliability. You may recall from our previous outreach that we assess each site based on nine apolitical journalistic criteria and assign a 0-100 trust score based on those criteria. Our rating process and criteria can be found here.

We are in the process of updating our rating of WeeklyBlitz.net. As part of our rating process, we contact the publication being rated to seek comment on any potential issues we find and to give the site a chance to point us to any information we may have missed.

Please keep in mind that we ask about all potential issues that may affect the site’s rating. We also may ask general questions to help users understand the site’s practices. Thus, questions asked below do not mean the site will not achieve a high NewsGuard score or that we have made any final determination yet of the site’s rating. Instead, the goal of this communication is to make sure our rating is as fair, accurate, and thorough as possible.

If you do have comments in response to any of the questions below, we will include them in our rating report so that readers can see your point of view. As such, please consider this and any additional correspondence with us to be on the record.

With that in mind, here are my questions…

The email goes on to list several examples of articles from Blitz, questioning their accuracy and reliability. Among the examples were articles discussing Hunter Biden’s involvement in alleged scandals and accusations of Ukraine’s “neo-Nazi regime”. NewsGuard’s biased stance is evident from its scrutiny of Blitz’s coverage of controversial topics, particularly those involving Biden and Ukraine.

Despite such attempts to bully and intimidate, Blitz remains resolute. No tactic will silence our pursuit of truth. For 21 years, despite financial hardships stemming from a lack of advertising revenue — a consequence of opposition from entities like NewsGuard — Blitz has never sought financial assistance from individuals or organizations. We have survived, and we will continue to uphold the values of free press and expression.

In the face of relentless intimidation from entities like NewsGuard, Blitz remains unwavering in its commitment to truth and journalistic integrity. While the Biden administration and its allies may attempt to stifle dissent and manipulate the media landscape, Blitz will continue to stand as a beacon of independent journalism, exposing uncomfortable truths and defending the freedom of the press. No amount of pressure or censorship can silence our voice — one dedicated to providing the public with the unvarnished reality, no matter the cost.
