Koderma, Gautam Rana: The court of Additional District and Sessions Judge I Ghulam Haider sentenced Vijay Das to life imprisonment for abducting and murdering a youth while hearing Chandwara police station case number 52/21 and sessionism number 155/21. Along with this, a fine of Rs 15,000 has also been imposed. In case of non-payment of the fine, the accused will have to undergo additional imprisonment of two years. Apart from this, the court found him guilty under 201 IPC and imposed 10 years rigorous imprisonment and a financial fine of five thousand. Both the sentences will run concurrently.

The relatives had accused the accused of kidnapping and killing

It may be known that on May 13, 2021, Meena Devi, husband Kanti Das, mother of the deceased youth Sikander Das, a resident of Chandwara, had registered a case of kidnapping and murder at Chandwara police station. In the case registered, he had said that his son Sikandar Das had gone to a wedding ceremony in Karma along with the driver Vijay Das. Around 3:30 pm, Vijay Das went somewhere with my son Sikandar Das and did not return. A lot of research was done, but no one was found.

The body of the deceased was recovered at the behest of the accused.

Meanwhile, his brother-in-law called on the mobile of Sikandar Das, then that mobile was picked up by Vijay Das and switched off the mobile by telling some wrong location. After that, when many people of the village went to Vijay Das’s house, on inquiring there, it was found that he was seen a day before with a Maruti car. Registering the case, the police arrested the accused Vijay Das and recovered the dead body of the deceased Sikandar Das on his tip.

10 witnesses were examined during the trial

During the court hearing, public prosecutor PP Mandal from the prosecution side got 10 witnesses examined in the court and demanded the harshest punishment for the accused. At the same time, advocates Prakash Modi and Anshuman Pandey presented arguments on behalf of the defence. The court sentenced the guilty after hearing the arguments of both the parties and perusing the evidence on record.
