New Delhi, 21 July (Hindustan Times). Tata Group-led Air India has struck another big deal. Air India has finalized the Leap engine deal with CFM International for its new fleet of 400 narrow-body aircraft. These engines will power 210 Airbus A320/A321 Neo and 190 Boeing 737 Max aircraft.

The two companies have also signed a multi-year service agreement that will cover the airline’s entire fleet of Leap engines, CFM International said in a release on Thursday. The deal was first announced in February.

Campbell Wilson, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director (MD), Air India, said, “We are delighted to have signed a major deal with CFM, which will play a key role in our growth in the future.

It is noteworthy that CFM International is a similar joint venture between GE Aerospace and Safran Aircraft Engines. Air India Airlines has been a customer of CFM since 2002, when it started operating the A320 Neo aircraft powered by the CFM56-5B engine.
