There was a ruckus in Varanasi, UP on Tuesday when the police, who went with the Varanasi Development Authority team to Mohansarai Bairwan Kannadadi Milkichak area, started vacating the land of the farmers. During this, the villagers under the leadership of the farmer leader pelted stones at the VDA and the police team. After the stone-pelting, the police had to lathicharge to control the situation. Farmers are opposing the proposed Transport Nagar scheme. The VDA team along with a large police force reached around 10 am on Tuesday morning. The team started the process of taking possession of the land from JCB by measuring it.

Seeing this action of VDA, a large number of farmers reached and started protesting. The farmers said that the government should take possession of only that land for which it has given compensation. The land for which the government has not given compensation to the farmers, it should not be forcibly occupied. Farmers are demanding compensation as of today. Meanwhile, some people started pelting stones at the police administration. After this, the police force gathered in large numbers started lathicharge. Police lathicharged the farmers and dispersed them. During this, the police have detained about a dozen farmers. According to information, farmers and policemen have been injured in stone pelting and lathicharge.

Many farmers, elderly and women have been badly injured. Farmers have been dragged out of their homes, beaten up and arrested. This act is shameful.
