There is a possibility of delay in the construction of the Amas-Darbhanga Fourlane Greenfield Expressway in Bihar due to land acquisition being stuck. This road will pass through seven districts in a length of about 198.4 km. It includes Aurangabad, Jehanabad, Nalanda, Patna, Vaishali, Samastipur and Darbhanga districts. The deadline for its construction is 2025, but it is expected to be delayed due to land acquisition problems. For this, the work of land acquisition is stuck in three districts. These include Patna, Jehanabad and Gaya districts. At the same time, the work of land acquisition in three districts is in the final stage. These include Samastipur, Darbhanga and Vaishali. At the government level, instructions have been given to the concerned district officials to speed up the distribution of compensation for land acquisition.

According to sources, the Amas-Darbhanga Fourlane Greenfield Expressway is being constructed in four sections under the Bharatmala project. Its estimated cost is around Rs 6927 crore. Out of this, an agreement was signed on May 9, 2022 to construct Amas-Shivrampur about 55 km and Shivrampur-Ramnagar about 54.30 km road. At the same time, an agreement was signed on May 20, 2022, to construct a road of about 45 km length from Kalyanpur in Samastipur to Balabhadrapur in Darbhanga and on August 8, 2022, to construct a road of about 42.1 km length from Balabhadrapur to Bela Nawada.

This NH will start from NH-19 near Amas in Aurangabad. After this, Jehanabad, Nalanda and Patna’s Kachchi Dargah-Bidupur six lane will pass through Ganga bridge, Kalyanpur in Hajipur, Tajpur in Samastipur and will join NH-27 near Bela-Nawada in Darbhanga. Ramnagar in Patna district is also a part of Sekchi Dargah-Bidupur Patna Ring Road. Amas-Darbhanga road will connect Gopalganj-Kishanganj NH with Golden Quadrilateral Mohania-Dobhi NH. Also, it will connect Jharkhand border to Nepal border.
