UP body election counting tomorrow, counting of votes under CCTV surveillance, ban on victory procession

Lucknow: The counting of votes for the UP civic elections will take place on Saturday, May 13. The State Election Commission has completed the preparations for counting. The entire vote counting will be done under CCTV surveillance. Video recording will also be done if needed. Candidates have been banned from taking out victory processions after victory.

State Election Commissioner Manoj Kumar said on Friday that instructions have been given to conduct the counting of votes with transparency and fairness in a better way. It has been asked not to make any distinguished dignitary, protected person and person of criminal tendency as vote counting agent. Instructions have been given to announce the result of counting of each round through loud speaker.

The State Election Commissioner has given instructions that a control room should be opened at each counting center. Supporters of the candidates outside the counting center must be informed about the counting of votes through loud speakers. Supporters of the candidate should neither bother unnecessarily to get information nor waste their time after the counting of votes of the concerned candidate is over.

Manoj Kumar told that 353 counting centers have been set up for total 760 urban bodies for counting of votes in various districts of the state. About 35 thousand personnel have been deployed for counting of votes in all the districts of the state. Instructions have been given to deploy necessary police and PAC jawans as well as mobile teams of PAC in all the districts for adequate necessary security in the counting work.

He told that instructions have been given to make arrangements for generators for adequate lighting at the counting centers. Fire brigade and ambulance have been asked to be deployed at each counting center to avoid accidental incidents.
