Those who lived in poverty under the rule of previous governments were left behind in the journey of development: PM

New Delhi, 25 April (Hindustan). Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday gifted the new Namo Medical College to Daman-Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli. At an event launching several projects in the union territory, Prime Minister Modi accused previous governments of discriminating against deprived areas on the basis of vote bank.

The Prime Minister on Tuesday laid the foundation stone and inaugurated 96 projects worth more than Rs 4850 crore at Sayli Maidan in Silvassa. These projects include government schools at Morkhal, Kherdi, Sindoni and Masat in Dadra and Nagar Haveli district. Projects include beautification, strengthening and widening of district roads, expansion of water supply scheme at Ambawadi, Pariyari, Damanwada, Khariwad and Government Engineering College, Government School of Daman, fish market and shopping complex at Moti Daman and Nani Daman and Nani Daman Are. During the program, the beneficiaries of PM Awas Yojana were given symbolic keys of houses and interacted with them.

Addressing the program organized on the occasion, the Prime Minister said that the present government is not working for ‘appeasement’ but for ‘satisfaction’. The Bharatiya Janata Party government at the Center is giving priority to the underprivileged. Doing development work in underprivileged, tribal and marginal areas. He said that it is the misfortune of the country that for several decades the politics of development was weighed on the scales of vote bank. Those who did not have access, had a weak voice, remained in want and were left behind in the journey of development.

The Prime Minister said that even after 75 years of independence, the Union Territory has not been given a single medical college. He said that some number of children from here used to get medical education in outside colleges. Even among them, children coming from tribal families were completely deprived of this. Now more than 1000 youths will become doctors every year from the new medical college. Describing this as an example of satisfaction, he said that today the Union Territory is moving towards satisfaction in terms of development.

The Prime Minister said that in the last 9 years, the country has developed a working style of rapid development. When one task is completed, another task begins. We also ensure that the work started is completed.

Earlier, the Prime Minister visited the Namo Medical Education and Research Institute in Silvassa and dedicated it to the nation. Its foundation stone was laid by the Prime Minister in January 2019. With this, there will be an unprecedented increase in health services for the citizens of Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu.

After this, the Prime Minister also dedicated the Devka seafront in Daman to the nation. About 5.45 kilometers of seafront has been built at a cost of about Rs 165 crore. A one of its kind beach resort has been created in the country. This will boost the local economy and attract tourists. Along with this it will become a hub of leisure and entertainment activities.
