A gang of women from West Bengal who stole mobile phones using children in passenger trains on the Patna-Gaya railway line has been exposed. Five women of this gang have been arrested by the Railway Police. 11 stolen mobiles have been recovered from them. A minor is also involved in the gang. The arrested women are 19-year-old Somari Singh, 20-year-old Meera Singh and 28-year-old Savitri Devi, resident of Kali Tola area of Purlia, West Bengal, 25-year-old Radha Singh and 45-year-old Jamuna Devi, resident of Barabani police station area of Bardhaman. Rail SP Amrtendu Shekhar Thakur Gave this information in the press conference on Thursday.
First woman arrested from Jehanabad
Rail SP told that in view of incidents of mobile theft in trains, a special team was formed under the leadership of Gaya Rail DSP. During the investigation, the Patna-Gaya Memo passenger train which reached platform number-1 of Jehanabad station was searched on Wednesday. Meanwhile, a suspicious woman was seen with the child. As soon as the policemen tried to stop her, she started running, which was chased and caught. During the search, one stolen mobile phone each was recovered from the woman and the minor. The arrested woman was identified as Somari Singh, a resident of Kali Tola police station area in Purlia, West Bengal. During interrogation, the woman told that she steals mobiles using children in different trains. There are four more women in this gang, who are from West Bengal.
Chakand railway station four more women arrested
When the team started investigation after reaching Chakand station on the tip of the arrested Somari Singh, all the four women were caught at the station itself. When the mobile of the first arrested woman was searched, it was found that all of them work together and have stolen hundreds of mobile phones till now. She used to sell stolen mobiles at low prices in Bengal and Gaya.
The gang said: no one suspects the children
According to the Rail SP, the arrested women told that they used to make such passengers their victims, who were family members and or elderly. After this, she used to cut the pocket with the blade by making the child stand or sit next to her. Being a child, no one even doubts. According to the information received, sharp blades have also been found from the child and the woman.
