Lucknow, May 16 (Hindustan Times). In the 63rd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2023), Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) defeated Mumbai Indians by 5 runs. With the win in this exciting match played at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium, Lucknow has kept the playoff hopes alive. The hero of the match was fast bowler Mohsin Khan, who defended Mumbai’s required 11 runs in the last over.
Chasing the target of 178 runs from Lucknow, the team of Mumbai Indians got off to a great start by captain Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan. There was a 94-run partnership between the two. The team got its first blow in the form of Rohit Sharma (37 runs) in the tenth over of the innings. Then on the first ball of the 12th over, Ishaan Kishan was also dismissed after scoring 59 runs. Suryakumar Yadav also returned to the pavilion early, scoring 7 runs. In the end, Nehal Wadhera contributed 16 runs and Tim David contributed 32 runs. Mumbai needed 11 runs to win off the last over but fast bowler Mohsin Khan allowed the batsmen to take only five runs, helping Lucknow win the match by five runs. After this, captain Krunal Pandya and Marcus Stoinis made a partnership and added 82 runs in 59 balls. Krunal Pandya retired hurt in the 16th over after scoring 49 runs. However, Marcus Stoinis shared a 60-run partnership with Nicholas Pooran in the last 4 overs. With the help of which the team’s score could reach 177 runs at the loss of 3 wickets. Stoinis played an unbeaten inning of 89 runs in 47 balls. Jason Behrendorff got two wickets and Piyush Chawla got one wicket for Mumbai.
