1968 candidates have been elected unopposed across the state even before the voting for the Panchayat by-elections for 3520 posts in Bihar. In the by-election, out of 556 vacant posts of Gram Panchayat members, 211 posts were elected unopposed. Similarly, one post out of 44 vacant posts of Panchayat Samiti, one out of 55 vacant posts of Gram Kachari, while out of 2810 vacant posts of Gram Kachari Punch, 1755 posts were elected unopposed.
A total of 4304 candidates filed nominations for 3520 posts.
A total of 4304 candidates filed nomination papers for 3520 posts in Panchayat by-election, in which nomination papers of 4190 candidates were found valid while 114 nomination papers were rejected. A total of 133 candidates have withdrawn their names in the by-election.
Voting for 10 posts postponed due to error in voter list
The State Election Commission has canceled the elections for 10 posts with immediate effect due to error in voter list in Banka, Nalanda and Purnia districts. The Commission has issued instructions in this regard to the District Magistrates of the three districts. Separate instructions will be issued for voting on vacant posts. The Commission has made it clear that the election for all the remaining posts will be conducted as per the schedule.

The post of Panch of Ward 16 of Kachari Balua is included.
