Patna High Court executes 175 prohibition cases in 120 minutes, 1553 VIPs caught drunk

Summer vacation is going to happen in Patna High Court after this week. Most of the judges have bail related matters to be listed for hearing in the second shift from Monday to Friday. In this episode, on the first day on Monday, a total of 192 regular bail cases related to prohibition were listed in the court of Judge Alok Kumar. Justice Pandey disposed of a total of 175 cases in 120 minutes while hearing and executing these cases quickly. This in itself is a record performance.

1553 VIPs caught under the influence of alcohol

The Police and Excise Department have also caught 1553 VIPs under the influence of alcohol since December 2021. Maximum 144 government employees, 115 public representatives, 39 doctors and 23 advocates were involved in these. Vinod Singh Gunjiyal, Secretary, Prohibition, Excise and Registration Department told in a press conference on Monday that under the Prohibition Act only the Excise team is arresting an average of 784 people every day. Since the amendment in the Excise Act in April last year, 3350 accused have been caught drunk again. Of these, 1985 were caught by the excise department, while 1365 were caught by the police.

Rs 37 crore recovered as fine from vehicles

Vinod Singh Gunjiyal said that since April 1, 2022, the department has so far released six thousand 215 vehicles with fines. Rs 37 crore was collected as fine from these vehicles caught with liquor. The secretary informed that till now more than one lakh 61 thousand trials have been completed, in which one lakh 60 thousand 111 persons have been punished. In the last four months, the conviction rate has been 99 percent. 287 persons have been sentenced to five years, 43 to seven years, while 37 persons have been sentenced to ten years.

Registration revenue of 713 crores in one and a half month

The secretary told that from April 1 to May 15, the Registration Department has earned a revenue of about 713 crores from the registration. The target for this financial year has been kept at 6300 crores. 25 types of model deed have been uploaded on the website so that common people do not face any problem in registration, seeing which registration documents can be prepared. Along with this, the work of digitization of old documents is also going on.
