Since its launch in 2021, the Model Factory has provided a wide range of training and guidance services to emerging industrial companies to raise their levels of excellence and operational efficiency, in line with the objectives of Qatar Development Bank to develop the capabilities of small and medium-sized manufacturing companies and raise their level of competitiveness and general operational performance.
The Model Factory is considered the first center for developing industrial capabilities in Qatar and the region, as it follows the best procedures and processes in enabling small and medium industrial companies, thus becoming an integrated training center for companies in their journey to develop their business, whether by improving their strengths or working to address any operational challenges they face, through Adopt the best international manufacturing practices in their fields of work to ensure a smooth and sustainable operation process, reduce waste of all kinds, reduce costs, and raise the level of productivity to unprecedented levels.
Owners of industrial companies can benefit from the model factory through the many services it provides through training programmes, most notably; General Introduction to Lean Manufacturing and Operations, Lean Manufacturing and Basics Training, Start-up Program, Learn and Transform Program, and Kaizen Journey Program.
Since the beginning of the current year 2023, the Model Factory has held several programs, training workshops, bilateral meetings and developmental field visits to achieve these goals. Five small and medium companies have also benefited from the transformation and learning program to raise their productivity to date.
The model factory, during its relatively short period of operation, has also previously supported several companies in achieving their ambitions, as the first cohort of trainees for the year 2021 of the Learning and Transformation Program included 7 companies, while the Kaizen Journey Program witnessed the participation of 5 companies, so that the companies that completed the “Learning and Transformation” program in 2021 achieved success. 2021 is positive results, as it succeeded together in advancing the pace of production and achieving financial revenues amounting to 44 million riyals.
As for the past year 2022, ten companies participated in the various programs of the model factory, and all of them achieved remarkable operational successes by raising their production efficiency, as the financial revenues of all these companies are estimated at approximately 33 million riyals, in addition to the long-term impact, especially in the sustainability of business and making it more streamlined on the the long term.
In addition to the contribution of the model factory to the process of evaluating the readiness of companies for digital transformation (SIRI assessment) for more than 10 companies at the technical level, the mechanism and methods of work, as well as the administrative structure, and the extent of readiness of human resources for digital transformation, which will cast a shadow on all aspects of the companies’ work and motivate them. To raise their levels of productivity, and open new horizons for them in the national and international market.
Through its continuous endeavors, the Model Factory hopes to raise the level of services it provides to develop its facilities using the best technologies in line with modern industrial and technological practices, to be the first technological industrial center for capacity development in Qatar and the region in cooperation with the best international partners in this field, in order to achieve a distinguished industrial experience. For small and medium-sized companies that benefit by adopting various digital solutions in their journey to develop their business.
It is noteworthy that the model factory was developed and funded by Qatar Development Bank in strategic partnership with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry to be among the centers specialized in industry and its development in the State of Qatar.
