Muzaffarpur: The route of Budhi Gandak river passing through the city has been encroached upon. Under the bridge, the Budhi Gandak river route has been encroached upon by 30 encroachers from several families. The flow of the river is being adversely affected due to encroachment on the course of the river. Due to this the flow of the river is being blocked. Regarding this, the Executive Engineer of the Flood Control Division has identified 30 encroachers. Everyone has been sent a notice to leave the encroachment in a week. If the encroachment is not removed within the stipulated time, then Sikandarpur OP has also warned of legal action ie registration of FIR against them.
Request to DM to vacate the encroachment
According to the list of the Divisional Flood Control Department, there are many people of the same family, who have blocked the way of Budhi Gandak river by building different huts. Due to this the size of the river is decreasing. Along with this, obstruction is also being created in the flow of Budhi Gandak. At the same time, the Flood Control and Water Drainage Department has also informed the DM about the matter of encroachment in the route of Budhi Gandak river. And requested the DM to direct the concerned officials to get the encroachments vacated. So that the old Gandak river can be rejuvenated and the flow of water is speedy.

Be aware that beautification work is also being done on Budhi Gandak river in Muzaffarpur at Ashram Ghat located in Sikandarpur and Stair Ghat under the Namami Gange project.
