Ranchi, Raj Laxmi. Jharkhand’s suspended IAS officer Chhavi Ranjan has again been sent to ED’s remand for 4 days by the PMLA court. Former Deputy Commissioner of Ranchi, Chhavi Ranjan was presented in the special court of Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Ranchi on Friday. ED sought 6 days remand from the court. But, Dinesh Rai’s court gave remand for only 4 days. Chhavi Ranjan looked very sad after coming out of the court room. The media did not ask him any questions today.
Remand period will start from tomorrow
Chhavi Ranjan’s remand period will start from Saturday (May 13). Till May 16, officials of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) will interrogate him at his office in Hinoo. Chhavi Ranjan was arrested by the ED on the night of 4 May. them on 5 may PMLA Court was introduced in The court sent him to jail. On the next appearance, the special ED court sent Chhavi Ranjan to 6-day custody. The detention period began on May 7.
Chhavi Ranjan will remain in ED custody till May 16
Chhavi Ranjan’s custody period was ending on 12 May. That’s why ED produced him in the court and again asked for 6 days remand for further questioning. But, the court gave remand for only 4 days. Army’s land registry was helped on the basis of fake documents
Chhavi Ranjan is alleged to have got army land registered on the basis of fake documents by putting pressure on the officers working under him. In return, he took a hefty bribe. In this connection, the ED had arrested several land brokers including the CI of the Zonal Office. After questioning him, Chhavi Ranjan was also arrested.
