Bihar government reached Supreme Court in caste enumeration case, petition filed against Patna High Court’s decision

Patna. The Bihar government has reached the Supreme Court against the ban of the Patna High Court on caste census in Bihar. The Bihar government has filed a petition before the Supreme Court seeking cancellation of the decision of the Patna High Court and allowing the caste census to continue.

Supreme Court has not given the date of hearing

Bihar government’s lawyer Manish Singh told the media that a petition has been filed in the Supreme Court. However, it has not been decided when the Supreme Court will hear on this. On May 4, the Patna High Court banned the ongoing caste census in Bihar till further orders, terming it unconstitutional and wrong.

Reconsideration petition also dismissed

The High Court has fixed the date of July 3 for the next hearing on this matter, but after that the Bihar government filed a petition in the Patna High Court for an early hearing of the caste census case. On May 9, the Patna High Court also rejected the review petition of the Bihar government.

All the arguments of the government remained ineffective

A demand was also made by the Bihar government in the Patna High Court that it should be allowed to continue the work of caste census. Its 80 percent work has been done, the court should allow the remaining work to be completed. The government had said that after completing the work of caste census, it will be made public only when the court gives its permission. But the High Court also refused to accept it. In such a situation, the Bihar government has now reached the Supreme Court.
