The Ministry of Commerce and Industry praised the commitment of suppliers (car agents) to the circular it issued regarding their obligations towards consumers when purchasing or reserving vehicles, as about 4,000 new vehicles were delivered to consumers.
This comes based on the intensive periodic campaigns carried out by the Ministry’s inspectors on car agencies, to ensure their compliance with Circular No. (1) of 2023 specifying the obligations of car dealerships and suppliers towards consumers when purchasing or reserving vehicles.
The Consumer Protection and Anti-Commercial Fraud Department at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry had issued Circular No. (1) for the year 2023, by preparing a form for the “delivery date document”, which includes mandatory data in accordance with the provisions of the law.
This came based on Law No. (8) of 2008 regarding consumer protection and its amendments regarding the obligations of suppliers and an indication of how to implement them on terms and standards consistent with the provisions of the law and its implementing regulations, provided that they come within the framework of ensuring consumers’ rights towards those they deal with to meet their basic needs, and based on Article No. (8) Concerning consumers’ rights to obtain other data as determined by the executive regulations of this law, which stipulated in Article No. (4) of the data that must be available in the document issued by the provider.
The Ministry gave suppliers and car agents residing in the State of Qatar a period of one week from the date of knowledge of this decision, in order to reconcile their conditions and work on what was included in the circular and to provide the Consumer Protection and Anti-Commercial Fraud Department with what has been implemented in this regard.
The Ministry affirmed that after the expiry of the specified deadline, it will intensify its inspection campaigns to monitor the extent to which suppliers and car dealerships comply with what they have been alerted to, and it will firmly confront anyone who is negligent in carrying out his obligations stipulated in Law No. 8 of 2008 regarding consumer protection and its implementing regulations.
The Ministry urges all citizens and residents to report any transgressions or violations through the following communication channels: – Call Center: 16001
