Surat: Twist came in suicide case of female professor, gang was blackmailing by making dirty photos

Surat police has got important success in the suicide case of female professor. The investigation after the woman’s suicide came to a shocking revelation, in which the police took action by arresting three accused from Bihar.

Sejal Parmar, a female professor working in the Chemistry Department of Veer Narmad South Gujarat, committed suicide on 16 March. Now in this case, the Rander police have arrested three accused of the gang who extorted money by threatening to make the photo of the female professor viral by morphing it.

Sejal Parmar, a female professor living in Surat’s Jahangirpura area, committed suicide on March 16 in the afternoon between Utrayan and Kosad railway stations. Sejal Parmar had sent a message to her younger sister a day before committing suicide that she was being asked for money by threatening to make her nude photo viral. Later, in a conversation with the younger sister, the female professor, Sejal, told that she had accepted the mobile access in a message from an application and then she started receiving false blackmailing messages threatening to spread nude photos and demanding money.

Rander police registered a case and started investigation into the suicide case. However, in the preliminary investigation, the relatives of the female professor who committed suicide had accused the in-laws of harassing them. But a more in-depth investigation of the matter revealed something else. Investigation revealed that some of the accused blackmailed the lady professor by tampering with her photo and extorted money from her. In this incident, Rander police investigated with the help of cyber cell.

Police investigation revealed that the accused, hailing from Keoli village in Bihar, were blackmailing the woman professor. Due to this being a Naxalite area, the police raided for three days in different costumes to nab the accused. Then late night of 3rd May, 3 accused were arrested. Rander police have arrested Abhishek Kumar Singh, Roshan Kumar Singh and Saurabh Raj Gajendra Kumar from Bihar. After arresting the accused, laptop, printer, keyboard, mouse, finger print machine and 15 copies of Aadhaar card were seized and cash worth Rs 51,000 was seized.

The accused have studied up to 10th and used to collect data of people in the name of repaying loan installments from each other to live a high profile lifestyle and access the mobile of the sender by sending an application in the mobile. At the same time, by morphing the person’s photo, they used to demand money by threatening to make the nude photo viral.

The special thing is that all the three accused were arrested on 3 May 2023. After that he was produced in Bihar court and got transitory for 72 hours. After this he was brought to Surat. Although the Rander police team has done a commendable job in this case, now a reward has also been announced for them.
