Had we followed the path of Lord Buddha, the crisis of climate change would not have come: PM Modi

New Delhi, 20 April (Hindustan). Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Thursday that the path of Buddha is the path of the future. Walking on this path leads to coordination in place of conflict and peace in place of unrest. If the world had already followed the path of Lord Buddha, it would not have to face the problem of climate change.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was sharing his thoughts at the inaugural session of the first two-day Global Buddhist Summit at Ashoka Hotel in Delhi on Thursday. Welcoming Buddhists from all over the world, he said that Buddha had given solutions to such problems centuries ago to the world suffering from wars and unrest.

He said that Buddha is a realization beyond the person. Buddha is a thought beyond form. Buddha is a consciousness beyond depiction. He said that the consciousness of the Buddha is eternal and continuous.

The Prime Minister said that humanity is standing on the verge of destruction due to frequent mistakes. According to Lord Buddha, if the mistakes are rectified then it is possible to solve the problems. Everyone’s actions leave an impact on the world. We should bring change in our life. He said that the initiative of India’s Mission ‘Life’ Lifestyle for Environment is a beginning in this direction.

The Ministry of Culture in association with the International Buddhist Confederation is organizing a two-day First Global Buddhist Summit in Delhi on April 20-21. The objective of this conference is to discuss the challenges faced by humanity in the present global scenario and find their solutions from the perspective of Buddhist philosophy.

Addressing the gathering from across the world, the Prime Minister said that the path of Buddha is based on Pariyakti, Patipatti and Pativedha, meaning theory, practice and realization. In the last 9 years, India has progressed rapidly on all these three points. He further said that whether there are peace missions in different countries of the world or a disaster like earthquake in Turkey. India stands with humanity with ‘Mum Bhav’ at the time of every crisis by putting its full potential.

He said that India has continuously propagated the values ​​of Lord Buddha. India’s future goals in Amrit-Kaal are huge and it also has new resolutions for global welfare. India has taken new initiatives on many subjects. In all of these, Buddha has been our great source of inspiration.

p style=”text-align: justify;”>During the program, Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave a special welcome to top Buddhist religious leaders from all over the world. The program was inaugurated by Union Culture Minister G. Kishan Reddy and Law Minister Kiren Rijiju also addressed. The theme of the summit is ‘Response to Contemporary Challenges from Philosophy to Praxis’. In this, eminent scholars, union leaders and followers of religion from all over the world will discuss global issues. At the same time, we will try to promote universal values ​​from the point of view of Buddhism.

It will consider topics such as Buddhism and Peace, Environmental Crisis, Health and Sustainability, Conservation of the Nalanda Buddhist Tradition and Buddhism Pilgrimage, Living Heritage and Buddha Relics. Representatives from around 30 countries are participating in the conference. Around 173 international participants are attending the conference, of which 84 are union members.
