Former Israeli Ambassador to India Ron Malka has taken over as the Executive Chairman of Haifa Port Company (HPC). HPC is owned by a consortium led by the Adani Group. A consortium of Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) and Gadot Group of Israel won the bid for privatization of Haifa port in Israel for $1.18 billion in July last year.

Malka tweeted on Sunday, “I am honored by the opportunity I have received today to assume the position of Executive Chairman of Haifa Port Company on behalf of Adani Online. With the combination of the experience and expertise of Adani, Gadot, and the dedication of the port personnel, Haifa Port will scale new heights of prosperity.”

Malka was Israel’s ambassador to India from 2018 to 2021. Haifa Port is Israel’s second largest port in terms of shipping containers and the largest port in terms of tourist cruise ships. The Adani Group officially took over the port in January this year.
