Meghalaya Election Result: NPP won 13 seats and leading on 12, UDP captured nine seats

The ruling National People’s Party (NPP) has won 13 seats and is leading in 12 seats in the counting of votes for the 59 assembly seats in Meghalaya, which was released on Thursday. The Election Commission gave this information.

According to the Election Commission, the United Democratic Party (UDP) has won nine seats and is leading in two seats.

Whereas, Congress has won four seats and is leading in one seat. Similarly, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) has won three seats and is leading in two. Voice of the People’s Party (VPP) and Hill State People’s Democratic Party (HSPDP) won two seats each.

According to the Election Commission, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is leading in three seats. At the same time, two independent candidates have also won. Chief Minister Konrad K. Sangma is leading in South Tura seat by a margin of 2,830 votes.

Meghalaya Congress unit president Vincent H Pala has been defeated by NPP’s Santa Mary Shyla. Leader of Opposition Mukul Sangma of Trinamool Congress from Songsak seat, NPP’s N. D. is ahead of Shira by 359 votes.

Meghalaya Assembly Speaker Metbah Lyngdoh has won the Mairang seat by 155 votes. The counting of votes began at 8 am in Meghalaya amid tight security.

The counting of votes is taking place at 13 centres. Meghalaya has 60 assembly seats, but due to the death of a candidate in the Sohyeong seat, the election to this seat was postponed.
