Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday thanked the people of the northeastern state for the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) victory in the Tripura Assembly elections, saying their vote was for development and stability.

He also congratulated the people of the state for the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP)-BJP alliance getting majority in Nagaland and said that the “double engine” government would continue to work for the progress of the state.

The Prime Minister thanked everyone who supported the BJP in Meghalaya and said that the party would continue to work hard to take the state forward on the path of development.

The BJP and its ally IPFT have crossed the majority mark to win Tripura, according to data received from the Election Commission.

In a tweet, Modi said, “Thank you Tripura! It is a vote for progress and stability. BJP will continue to take Tripura forward on the path of development. I am proud of all BJP workers of Tripura for their stupendous efforts at the grassroots level.

In Nagaland, the ruling Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP)-BJP alliance secured a majority in the 60-member assembly by winning 33 seats. NDPP has won 21 seats while BJP has won 12 seats. NDPP and BJP contested the assembly elections together. NDPP fielded candidates for 40 seats and BJP for 20 seats.

In another tweet, Modi said, “I thank the people of Nagaland for giving their blessings to the BJP-NDPP alliance in the form of a mandate for another term.” The double engine government will continue to work for the progress of the state. I appreciate the hard work of my party workers who ensured this result.

The trends of assembly election results in Meghalaya are indicating a hung assembly. The National People’s Party (NPP) has emerged as the single largest party here. The BJP has won two seats here while it is leading in one.

In a tweet, Modi said, “Grateful to everyone who supported the BJP in the Meghalaya Assembly elections. We will continue to work hard to take Meghalaya forward on the path of development and focus on empowering the people of the state. I am also grateful to our party workers for the efforts made by them.
