Assam Director General of Police (DGP) G P Singh on Friday said that two teachers have been identified as the main conspirators in the Class 10 question paper leak case. Singh said that one of these two teachers has been taken into custody, while the other accused is absconding, and “we are confident that we will nab him soon”.

The DGP said Pranab Dutt, headmaster and center in-charge of Majuli’s Luhit Khabalu High School, has been taken into custody.

“He will be arrested today and brought to the CID headquarters here on transit custody,” Singh said, adding that Kumud Rajkhowa, another accused and a close aide of Dutt, is a teacher at Daflakata High School in Lakhimpur.

Singh said portions of burnt question papers have been recovered from Dutt’s house and they are being sent for forensic examination. He also claimed that the chain through which the papers were leaked and circulated has been traced. Chief Minister Himanta Vishwa Sharma on Thursday evening said that a few days after the General Science question paper of class 10th state board exam was leaked, the Assamese language paper was also leaked.
