Indian Space Research Organisation’s (ISRO) heaviest rocket LVM3 was launched on Sunday with 36 satellites of UK-based communications company OneWeb.

Britain’s Network Access Associates Limited (OneWeb Group Company) has entered into an agreement with NewSpace India Limited, the commercial arm of ISRO, to launch 72 satellites into Low Earth Orbit (LEO). This was the second launch for OneWeb under this deal.

The first 36 satellites for the OneWeb Group company were launched on 23 October 2022. ISRO’s 43.5-metre long rocket was blasted off at 9 am on Sunday from the second launch pad at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre, about 135 km from Chennai, after a 24.5-hour countdown. Bharti Enterprises is a major investor in OneWeb Group.
