26 people died due to the storm in America

At least 26 people were killed and many more were injured after powerful tornadoes tore through Mississippi and Alabama in the US on Friday night.

Due to the devastation caused by the storm, many houses were damaged and power supply was disrupted. Rescuers are engaged in relief and rescue work.

The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency said on Saturday that the death toll from the storm had risen to 25 and many more people were injured. He said that four people missing in the state have been traced. Meanwhile, a 67-year-old man was killed in the devastation caused by the tornado in Morgan County in northern Alabama, al.com reported.

The National Weather Service confirmed the storm caused havoc about 96 kilometers northeast of Jackson in Mississippi.

Tornado damage was reported in the rural towns of Silver City and Rolling Fork, which without weakening moved northeast toward Alabama through Winona and Amory at 113 km/h.

Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves declared a state of emergency and US President Joe Biden has also pledged federal aid.
