H3N2 influenza kills 2 in India, total 90 cases across the country

So far two deaths due to H3N2 influenza have been reported in India. After the death of two people, the discussion about this disease has become serious.

One death due to H3N2 influenza was reported in Karnataka, while the second death due to H3N2 influenza occurred in Haryana. A total of 90 cases of H3N2 influenza and eight cases of H1N1 have been reported in the country so far.

Karnataka Health Minister K Sudhakar said, ‘There is no need to panic over the infection of Influenza A H3N2 variant virus in the state. Guidelines will be issued soon to caution people and an order will be issued directing health workers of all hospitals to compulsorily wear face masks.

Earlier, Sudhakar had said on March 6 that 26 people had tested H3N2 positive in the state and two of these cases were from Bengaluru. Explaining the danger of H3N2 influenza, he said that children below 15 years of age are more at risk from the H3N2 variant and this variant also infects people above 60 years.

IMA cautions against the use of antibioticsOn the other hand, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) has issued a warning about the overuse of antibiotics amid rising cases of cough, cold and nausea across the country. A standing committee of the IIMA said that the fever would go away in three days, but the cough could persist for three weeks.
