Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said India has moved from ‘women’s development’ to ‘women-led development’ in the last nine years, stressing on creating unicorns in women’s self-help groups.
Addressing a post-Budget webinar on ‘Women Empowerment’, Modi underlined that India today has 43 per cent female enrollment in engineering, science and technology, which is higher than developed countries like the US, UK and Germany. is much higher than that.
He said that be it in the field of medicine or sports, business or politics, the participation of women in India has not only increased, but they are leading from the front in every field. He said, “Can we create unicorns in self-help groups as well? According to him, women are getting maximum benefit from them and the best results are coming from women.

Mentioning the ‘Shrianna Yojana’ of coarse grains, the Prime Minister said that their demand is increasing and work will have to be done to further increase the role of women self-help groups in this.
