The government is working on bringing a ‘National Retail Trade Policy’ for brick-and-mortar retailers with a view to promote ease of doing business.

Sanjeev, Joint Secretary, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) gave this information on Monday. Sanjeev said that this policy will also help in providing better infrastructure and more loans to the traders.

He said the department is also working on bringing out an e-commerce policy for online retailers.

“We want better synergy between e-commerce and retail traders,” Sanjeev said at a conference on e-commerce and fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) here. In addition, the department is also in the process of formulating an ‘Insurance Scheme’ for all retail traders.
