Government accepts report of expert panel on smart power transmission system in India

The Central Government has accepted the report of an expert committee which will pave the way for modern and smart power transmission system in India. The Ministry of Power gave this information on Tuesday.

The ministry said in a statement that the country will soon have a modern and smart power transmission system. It has features such as real-time monitoring, automated operation of the grid, better assessment of the situation, ability to increase the share of renewable capacity in the energy mix, resilience to cyber attacks and natural calamities, he said.

The Ministry of Power constituted a task force in September 2021, these recommendations are part of its report. This task force or expert committee was constituted to suggest ways to modernize the transmission sector and make it smart and future ready.

The statement said that the report of the committee has been accepted by the government. Earlier last week, Union Energy Minister R.K. Of. Singh was consulted. Singh had said in the meeting that a modern transmission grid is very important to realize the government’s vision of providing reliable and affordable energy continuously.

Singh had said that a fully automated, digitally controlled, quick response grid that is resilient to cyber attacks and natural calamities is the need of the hour.
