Air India to temporarily reduce flights on some routes in US: CEO Wilson


Air India chief Campbell Wilson on Monday said the airline will have to temporarily reduce its flights on some routes in the US due to shortage of operational staff.

At the Kappa India conference, Air India’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Wilson told that in these, six weekly flights to the US, including three to Newark and three to San Francisco, will be reduced.

He informed that 100 pilots are being trained to fly the Boeing 777, besides training of about 1,400 crew personnel is also going on. Shortage of crew members affected some long-haul flights in recent months. Air India chief Wilson said that due to the shortage of personnel, the frequency of flights on some routes in the US will be reduced.

Newark and San Francisco will be reduced to six weekly flights and will continue for the next two to three months. About 11,000 personnel work in the airline.
