Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in Russia on Monday on a three-day visit. Xi Jinping will hold a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The meeting between Chinfing-Putin is considered important amidst the ongoing war in Russia-Ukraine. China and Russia have described Xi’s visit as part of efforts to further deepen friendship between the two countries.
The Kremlin has welcomed China’s peace plan for Ukraine and said it will be discussed during talks between Putin and Xi. The meeting will begin after dinner between the two presidents on Monday.
Significantly, Chinfing’s visit to Russia is taking place at a time when the International Criminal Court on Friday issued a warrant for Putin’s arrest on charges of war crimes. Russia has termed this warrant as “ineffective”.
