The transit time for cargo on the Kazakhstani part of the Trans-Caspian route has been halved

Transit cargo will be transported through Kazakhstan along the Trans-Caspian transport route not for 12, but for six days, the press service of the government of the republic reported. In 2023, the road may become five days long. The term for the passage of goods along the route from China to the Black Sea ports has been changed from 38-53 to 19-23 days, plans are to reduce it to 14-18 days.

“Progress has become possible thanks to the joint work of the participating countries to eliminate bottlenecks on the route, the introduction of through tariffs,” the ministry said.

Recall that the Trans-Caspian transport route is container transportation by sea and rail to Europe through China and Kazakhstan along the Caspian Sea, then through Azerbaijan and Georgia.

The government of Kazakhstan added that further modernization of the route involves the renewal of wagons, repair of tracks, expansion of port capacity and the creation of a hub in Aktau, as well as the establishment of simpler customs rules with China.
