AiF: You can’t buy fruits and vegetables in British stores

March 3 – BLiTZ. Britain failed to cope with the threat of a shortage of vegetables and fruits on store shelves. As reported in the publication AiFthe British cannot buy cucumbers, sweet peppers, tomatoes, lettuce and other fruits and vegetables.

The lack of goods affected the work of food industry enterprises. Restaurants, cafes and pubs in the UK have abandoned the usual menu.

What caused the vegetable shortage? First of all, as experts note, these are “cosmic” energy prices. Farmers are not able to maintain huge greenhouses. They were just closed.

The second reason was the fall in exports from Spain and Morocco. This year, these countries have collected a record low harvest. This was due to unfavorable weather conditions.

Earlier media reported that Polish farmers are suffering huge losses due to anti-Russian sanctions. Energy prices do not allow to work in the usual conditions. One of the first to collapse was the Polish apple market.
