The head of Tesla and SpaceX, Elon Musk, drew attention to the map, from the data of which it follows that Kyiv controls only the western suburbs of Artemivsk (the Ukrainian name is Bakhmut) and the city center. The territory around is under the control of Russian troops.
Musk studied the map and noted on his Twitter account that Artyomovsk was “almost surrounded.”
In the next post, he added, “That’s good.” In the comments under Musk’s post, users also confirmed that, according to the map, the advantage is clearly with the Russian military.
Earlier, on February 28, the commander of the ground forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (APU) Alexander Syrsky admitted that an extremely tense situation had developed for the Ukrainian military in Artemivsk. The worsening of the situation for Ukrainian soldiers in Artemovsk was also announced by the American TV channel CNN. The journalists noted that Russian troops are exerting pressure and continue to try to capture the city.
On the same day, the Ukrainian publication Obozrevatel, citing the head of one of the medical services, wrote that the number of wounded Ukrainian soldiers in Artemivsk had increased significantly in recent days.
The day before, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky also said that Ukrainian units operating in the Artemivsk region were in a difficult situation.
In turn, the adviser to the acting head of the Donetsk People’s Republic, Igor Kimakovsky, said on February 27 that Russian forces were fighting almost in the center of Artemovsk. At the same time, according to him, it is premature to talk about the operational encirclement of the city.
The special operation to protect Donbass, which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the background of the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
