As at the time of penning this article it appears that Kamala Harris is just nosing in front of Donald Trump in the opinion polls. Up until the demise of President Joe Biden or should I say the Barack Obama inspired coup against President Biden, all the opinion polls had Trump in a virtually unassailable lead for the Republicans over the Democrats. Biden and his family, together with his most loyal supporters can still be heard repeating Caesar’s damning “Et tu, Brutus” as per Shakespeare’s play paralleling historical events in power politics.
How quickly with the nomination of Harris, voter emotions have swayed? Those previously disengaged with domestic politics of the USA have now become engaged, inertia has turned to action and all this momentum seems to be favoring the Democrats. As a pro Israeli political researcher and ardent Zionist my heart sinks at the prospect of Harris being President and not the pro-Israel Donald Trump. A Republican victory will be a victory for all supporters of Israel and opponents of the extremists in control of the Palestinians and the global support base for Israel’s defeat and destruction.
But should I be that concerned given the proximity of the polling and the fickle and mainly inaccurate and biased methodology the US media use to promote a left-wing agenda so favored by many American cable TV networks?
Well, yes certainly methinks. However, despite the seemingly unstoppable trajectory of the Harris – Walz ticket there is one factor that is being critically ignored by all political pundits which undoubtedly will assist Donald Trump in his attempt to become President of the United States. And to explain this we must revert to a piece of recent history which bear some similarities to the current upcoming election.
In 1996, Ross Perot was a billionaire American who ran as an independent candidate for his newly formed party, paradoxically called the Reform Party. Those in the UK will understand the irony of this given the newly formed Reform Party who are continuing to challenge the two main political parties. Perot was running against Bill Clinton on the Democrat ticket and Bob Dole, the Republican nominee. Perot took millions of votes away from Dole and the Republicans and allowed Clinton to become President. Perot’s voter base was undoubtedly white Republican and Clinton won by default. How is this relevant to the current US election you may ask? The parallels are obvious but diametrically reversed.
The Green Party candidate in the USA is a rather obnoxious far left fascist called Jill Stein who is the equivalent of the UK’s Jeremy Corbyn but with intellectual competencies. Nevertheless, she has appealed to an extreme left minority but important and vociferous voter base who would undoubtedly have voted for the Democratic Party if the Green Party was not in existence. The Green Party under Stein is securing places on state ballots the latest being Georgia, a potential swing state. This is undoubtedly a blow to Harris and a real help to Trump. If this is repeated over several states in the next few weeks, Stein could be to Harris what Perot was to Dole. Trump effectively would win by default – traditional Democratic voters going Green and therefore assisting a Republican victory.
I can’t understand why the Green Party are not being given the publicity they warrant on US media. Or can I? Clearly the Green vote would dramatically impact on the chances of a Democratic victory and probably the mainly left-wing media want to play down the popularity of Stein and her party as this would undoubtedly jeopardize their victory chances. How ironic that the left leaning mainstream media in the USA are censoring the candidate whose policies they have spent years promoting. Would it not be the irony of all ironies if Jill Stein’s far left Green Party were the reason for the potential defeat of the most left-wing Democratic Party ticket and the victory of the most right-wing Republican nominee.
