Surat: Crime Branch arrested five members of Gwala gang from Jalpaiguri in West Bengal

The Surat Crime Branch has arrested five members of the infamous International Gwala Gang from Jalpaiguri in West Bengal. The police caught the five with three stolen motorcycles and cash from the old bus stand on Vapi Kabristan Road. By speeding up which the police has achieved great success in solving five crimes. Police investigation has revealed that more than 50 thefts have taken place in different states of the country. Along with this, it has also been revealed that this gang specializes in theft by covering a distance of thousands of kilometers from the bike.

According to the police, on July 12, 2023, at around 12.30 pm, two unidentified persons on a Pulsar motorcycle pulled the purple bag carried on the shoulder of the elderly man from the public road of Muskati Plots, in the lane next to Dheeraj Sons, Parle Point. Rs 2.10 lakh cash in that bag and Rs 4 thousand cash in the pouch, as well as a mobile phone worth Rs 5 thousand, Aadhaar card number-2 were found and a total of Rs 2.19 lakh were stolen and fled. In this case, a case was registered at Umra Paulus police station, whose investigation was handed over to POSE and his team of Crime Branch.

According to the information, during the investigation, on the basis of information, 5 accused were arrested in suspicious condition. During his investigation, three motorcycles and 61 thousand rupees in cash, four ordinary mobile phones, four fake Aadhaar cards etc. were found. The arrested accused have been identified as Gwala gang of Jalpaiguri. Investigation revealed that the gang was involved in international crimes. It was also revealed that this gang used to travel thousands of kilometers on motorcycles to commit crimes.

Police further said that these gangs used to go to loot in big cities of every state. The gang has confessed to being held more than 50 times in different states of India like West Bengal, Haryana, Gujarat, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and cities of Itihari, Kakarvita, Dhulbari, Jumma etc. in Nepal. It is learned that the gang has stolen three motorcycles from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh and by changing the number plates of the motorcycles, chased people withdrawing money from various banks in Surat, Vapi, Valsad Daman in Gujarat. Under surveillance near HDFC Bank in Umra police station area, he has confessed to snatching a bag full of cash of two lakh ten thousand rupees by targeting a senior citizen who was carrying money. Along with this, he has also confessed to stealing a bag containing Rs 5.5 lakh from inside by breaking the glass door of the car after chasing the car driver who was taking money from the bank in Vapi.

Police arrested Manoj alias Sintu Raj Gwala (age 40, Jalpaiguri, West Bengal) of Gwala gang, Rahul Shashi Yadav alias Tipu Ranjit Gwala (age 30, Katihar, Bihar), Tinku more Gwala (age 42, Jalpaiguri, West Bengal), Bala Lalji Yadav (age 40, Katihar, Bihar) and Avinash Rajesh Yadav (age 25).

Police further said that 3 motorcycles worth Rs 1.80 lakh, Rs 61,000 in cash, four mobile phones, four Aadhaar cards, a maroon colored leather hand bag, five different SIM cards of Airtel company and 7 blank SIM card covers were recovered from the accused. Along with this, the police took Pulsar Mo from him. Seized property worth Rs 2.43 lakh including lamination photo copy of RC book of Avinash Patnakar, lamination photo copy of driver’s license of Avinash Patnakar, lamination copy of insurance policy of Bajaj Alliance Company.
