Enrollment in law colleges of Bihar has not yet started in the current session. There is a provision of entrance test for enrollment but till now no decision has been taken on the entrance test also. The reason is that many law colleges have not got permission from the Bar Council of India even for this session. The session may be delayed due to non-receipt of permission. This time also the session 2023-24 will start late. From the session 2021 onwards, the session is starting late. From 2021 itself, the Bar Council of India had banned admission in law colleges.
The High Court had banned the admission
By the order of March 23, 2021, the High Court had banned new admissions in all 27 government and private law colleges in Bihar. After this, by making partial amendments, the court had given approval for conditional admission in 17 colleges. The High Court had made it clear that the new admission would be for 2021-22 only. Approval will have to be taken again from the Bar Council for the next year’s session. For this reason law colleges have to take approval from the Bar Council for every session.
Admission will be started on the basis of inspection report
The Bar Council’s bar is reaching late in the circle of universities and colleges in the institute. Due to which even the Bar Council is not able to give permission even after wishing at the right time. Bihar State Bar Council Chairman Ramakant Sharma said that many law institutes have been inspected. Admission will be started on the basis of inspection report. Soon the approval for admission will be given.
Delay in academic session in law colleges
This year, the academic session is getting delayed in most of the law colleges in the state. Because till now many law colleges have not got admission permission. Due to this, various universities have not been able to release the date of application for admission in LLB new session. Students are waiting to take admission in first year LLB. While Patliputra University has issued notice for admission in BA-LLB and LLB course. But in this only private colleges have been allowed by the Bar Council of India (BCI). While the LLB course of the College of Commerce has not yet been approved. Along with this, the admission process has not yet started in more than 20 law institutes of the state.
This time also admission will be done on 120 seats in Patna Law College
PU has not yet released the admission date for admission in Patna Law College of Patna University. Patna Law College has reduced from 300 seats to 120 seats. From 2021, admission is being done only on 120 seats in Patna Law College. Bar Council has said that there is shortage of classes in Patna Law College. To increase the number of seats, Patna Law College needs at least 10 rooms. Due to paucity of rooms, seats have been reduced. The number of rooms should be 15 for 300 seats. The Bar Council has said that a seating capacity of 60 students is necessary in every class room. If there are 300 seats, then 15 rooms are necessary for three sessions.

Entrance test will be conducted for admission in law colleges and M.Ed affiliated to Patliputra University. You can apply online for this till July 24. The entrance test will be held on 28 July. In this, general, BC One and BC Two candidates will have to pay two thousand rupees and SCST candidates will have to pay one and a half thousand rupees for the M.Ed nomination application. PPU Dean Students Welfare Prof AK Nag said that at present only private colleges have got recognition from the Bar Council. College of Commerce is not yet recognized. If found, then admission will be done on the basis of test only. University cannot delay the academic session for any one college.
