Surat: 1.31 lakh water inflow in Ukai dam, water level increased by 3 feet

Due to release of water from Hathnur Dam upstream of Ukai Dam and Prakasha Barrage near Nandurbar, 1.31 lakh cusecs of water is coming into Ukai Dam. Due to this inflow of water, the level of the dam has increased by 3 feet. Against the rule level of 333 feet in Ukai, the water level was recorded at 318 feet on Friday afternoon.

3 feet increase in the water level of the dam

1.37 lakh from Hathnoor dam near Bhusaval on Tapi river while 71619 cusecs of water was released from Prakasha barrage in Nandurbar district into Tapi river. Due to this, a good inflow of water started in the Ukai Dam. The arrival of water at 12 noon yesterday was 65 thousand cusecs and the level of Ukai dam was 315.57 feet, which has increased to 317.95 feet on Friday afternoon.

Ukai dam 15 feet less than rule level

An increase in water revenue was observed in Ukai Dam this morning. At present, 1.31 lakh cusecs of water is being received from the upper reaches of the Ukai dam. While the level of Ukai Dam has reached 317.95 feet. In the last 24 hours, the surface of Ukai Dam has increased by 3 feet. Along with this, due to good rains in the upper areas, there is a possibility of further increase in water revenue. The rule level of Ukai Dam in July is 333 feet. While the sinister surface is 345 feet.

The dam currently holds 3254 MCM of water.

Ukai Dam has a storage capacity of 7514 MCM of water on its total surface, as on Thursday evening, 3254 MCM i.e. 43.89 percent water is stored in the dam. According to the rule level set by the Irrigation Department, 333 feet of water can be stored in the dam till August 1. That’s why there is no possibility of releasing water from Ukai dam at present. The entire surface of the dam is 345 ft. The dam is currently empty at 15 feet above the regulation level and 27 feet above the danger level.
