Jharkhand News: This year also the farmers are not getting the support of monsoon in Santal Pargana division. After June, due to lack of good rains in July also, the streak of worry is increasing on the forehead of the farmers. Due to lack of good rains, only 5.2 per cent sowing has been done in the entire Santal Pargana so far, while the coverage of maize has been only 21.1 per cent so far this year. These figures are also worrying for the department.

Only 136.07 mm of rain fell in 20 days

So far in the month of July, only 42.96 percent rain has been received in 20 days against the normal rainfall. The normal rainfall of July in Santal Pargana is 316.75, while so far only 136.07 mm of rain has been received in 20 days. The target of paddy coverage in the Kharif season is 3,64,500 hectares in the entire Santal Pargana. Against this, till July 20, only 18,939 hectares could be sown. The achievement of Dumka, Jamtara and Deoghar is not even one per cent. However, in the other three districts, 4.4 per cent coverage has been done in Godda, 19.7 in Sahibganj and 14.2 in Pakur.

Maize is being cultivated in 11 percent of Dumka’s fields

Generally paddy crop was affected in Dumka, so that kind of effect was not visible on maize cultivation, but this year the coverage of maize has been only 11 per cent in Dumka, while 18.2 per cent in Deoghar, 18.2 per cent in Jamtara. 5.9, 10.6 in Godda, 66.9 in Sahibganj and 16.7 percent in Pakur have been covered.

Farmers of Ranishwar forced to migrate

Due to lack of rain, small farmers of different villages have not been able to sow paddy in their fields this year. Our fields were left lying vacant. Now farmers will go to Bengal and do wages. They are migrating with the whole family for employment by planting paddy in other’s fields. By the way, small farmers and laborers are migrating to Bengal, who despite having fields and seeds are not able to do farming only due to lack of water. Being laborers, they are now migrating taking school going children along with them.

Farmers of Jharkhand will plant money in Bengal

On Thursday, many farmers and laborers were seen migrating from Murjoda village of Banskuli Panchayat along with their families for Dhanropani in Bengal. Shiv Shankar Tudu, the village head of Murjoda, told that the field is lying empty due to lack of rain this year. Due to non-availability of agriculture, laborers are unable to get work and small farmers who have two to four bighas of land are also migrating to work. Dozens of laborers were also seen migrating to Bengal near Sijua turn of this panchayat. Hembram, a mechanic of Kolhod village of Masalia block, who was waiting for the bus, told that this time he could not sow paddy in his fields due to lack of rain. The field remained empty. Work is also not available in the area. That’s why families are migrating for employment. Other people also migrated with them.
