According to the exam calendar, the BPSC preliminary exam will be held on September 30, 2023, only after passing it, candidates can appear in the main exam. A total of 150 objective type multiple choice questions are asked in the preliminary examination. Each question carries one mark and the duration of the exam is 120 minutes. Due to the large number of candidates applying for this exam and negative marking, the level of competition is very tough. This time the number of seats is also less, so to be successful in this, along with hard work, a precise study strategy is also necessary.

Preparation will have to be done with special strategy

The strategy to succeed in the preliminary exam includes many things, which mainly include preparing all the topics according to the syllabus, fixing the time and hours of study, what to read and which books to base on, and how much time to practice Given, such points have to be considered. The preparation of preliminary exam can be divided into four main parts- Studying some standard books including NCERT, Preparing questions related to the state of Bihar, Preparing last one year current affairs, Previous years Practicing the questions and new questions daily.

Give equal importance to all the sections

Candidates often ask that which section of General Studies should be emphasized more for BPSC Prelims? Keep in mind that each and every section of General Studies is equally important, but based on the trend of previous years, it can be said that more questions are being asked from General Science, History, Indian Constitution and Current Affairs etc. Similarly, about 10 questions are definitely asked from mental ability. So give more importance to these sections and prepare other sections as well.

Give preference to NCERT books

There are two reasons behind giving maximum preference to NCERT books for BPSC exam – one, it will give a basic understanding of the subject and secondly, most of the questions in the exam are based on these books. The role of current affairs has also increased in this exam. For this, along with national-international news, it is necessary to pay special attention to the news related to Bihar. Questions are often asked from the socio-economic schemes and programs run by the Government of Bihar. For this you can collect information from the website of Bihar Pradesh. Mathematics questions are asked in the preliminary examination under mental ability, which are relatively difficult, so prepare these questions properly.

It is important to keep the following facts in mind for success

1 Instead of reading a lot of books and notes of different coaching take only a few books as base and read them again and again. 2 Focus only on common facts rather than searching for rare books and facts because hardly 10-12 The questions are based on rare facts only. 3 The most pressure in this exam is about the time limit, because you have to solve 150 questions in just 120 minutes, that is, on an average, you have only 40 seconds to solve each question. So practice it a lot in advance. 4 Whatever you read, read solid. Have a lot of discussion and discussion with friends on the concept of the subject. Under current affairs, look at the questions based on environment and ecology, biodiversity and climate change, government schemes, international organizations and data and reports of various subjects properly. 6 Take out 8-10 hours daily for study, in which make sure 60% time for study and 40% for practice. 7 Keep in mind that in the preliminary exam the correct answer to the questions is in front of you, you are given only Choose the correct answer from the four options. The method of elimination is the best way to reach the correct option, under which the option which seems inappropriate or irrelevant is already excluded. Through this method, you can avoid ‘Confusion’. 8 The question which you find easiest, must go through it once again, because there are more chances of making a mistake. 9 Any feeling of regret in the mind about your preparation. Don’t keep that you didn’t read this or missed that book. It is not necessary that those who did not read or missed out, the questions come from them only. So, be confident about your preparation for the exam.10 The most meaningful and accurate strategy for success in competitive exams is practice. You should practice a lot ‘topic-wise’ every day, so that you can get access to more and more questions and trends of questions.
