Khorimhua: In Dhanbad, Jharkhand, on Wednesday morning, the police have registered an FIR in the stone quarry accident in Parodih village of Dhanwar police station area. Mining Inspector Abhijit Majumdar told that the mine where the incident took place is legal. The report of DGMS is awaited. On the basis of the report, a case will be registered under the legal sections of the Mining Department. District DSP Forest Sanjay Rana said that while registering case number 96/23 in Dhanwar police station, five people including Poklen co-mine owner Sudama Yadav, Sanjay Saw and other partners have been named.

It is to be known that on Wednesday, two hyva and one poklen were buried under a stone rock in the stone mine. Poklen driver Sikandar Pandit was killed in this, while two Hiva drivers were seriously injured. After the incident, the issue of clearing the matter after seven lakh compensation has become a matter of discussion in the area. Hundreds of illegal stone quarries are operating in about a dozen villages including Hemarodih, Parodih, Madho, Galwati, Kargali, Daldal, Gorhand, Algdeshi, Baijudih, Saharpura in Dhanwar and Ghorthamba police station area. There are also some legitimate mines. The owners of the mines are extracting stones without fencing, valid blasting documents and without security arrangements. Many mines are four hundred feet deep. Water is being pumped out from big motor pumps. Due to this the water level has also gone down. Chapakal, ponds, wells and other water sources are drying up. In these areas, continuous blasting takes place day and night intermittently.

Common people are facing difficulty in traveling on the road due to the dust blowing due to the transportation of stones by heavy vehicles. Ghorthambha market is known for furniture. Ghodthamba market is known for furniture market in dozens of surrounding districts. Because many saw mills are operating here illegally. In such a situation, wood is available at a cheap rate and furniture is made. Here, the wood mafia is clearing the surrounding forests for big money. Action was taken several times against this by the Forest Department, but every time saw mills are opened at new places. For years this illegal business is going on like this. According to the mill operators, the role of many officials of the department is also suspicious. Many local people, on the condition of anonymity, told that if the authorities want, forests can be saved from being cut, but this is not happening. Wood is cut daily in the surrounding forests. From here the wood is being transported to the saw mill and then to the furniture shop.
