BIT Patna has started four year BCA and BBA courses under the new education policy. From the new session 2023, the admission process has also been started in the four year course. On Thursday, Dr. Arvind Kumar, Director of BIT Patna Campus, told that till last year, BBA and BCA courses were studied in three years, but under the new education policy, the duration of both these courses has been reduced to four years.
Certificate will be given even after leaving studies in the middle
Along with fixing the duration of both these courses for four years, some other changes have also been made. If a student takes admission in both these courses and leaves his studies after one year due to any reason, then he will get the undergraduate certificate for a period of one year. Whereas, if he leaves his study after a period of two years, he will be awarded a diploma certificate. If the student leaves the studies after three years of study then he will be awarded BCA degree, but if he completes his course continuously for four years then he will be given a certificate of BCA or BBA with Honors and Research. In both these courses, there will be direct admission of students who have secured 85 percent marks in Intermediate. Biology students can also take admission in BCA
Dr. Arvind Kumar also told that apart from this, some other changes have been made in the BCA program under the new education policy. Till now it was very important to have Mathematics to take admission in BCA program. But now it has also been changed. Now if a student is from biology background and wants to take admission in BCA, he can also apply. However, in the first three years of the course, those students will have to do a bridge course in Mathematics and achieve success in it.

The process for applications for both these courses has started. Students can apply till June 18, while the merit list will be released on June 23. For BCA, the institute will take applications for 60 seats, while for BBA, 120 seats have been earmarked by the institute. For applying in both these courses, the minimum qualification should be 12th pass with 45 percent marks.
