Transport Corporation buses will ply from Patliputra bus terminal to major places of Patna city. Divisional Commissioner Kumar Ravi talked to the administrator of Bihar State Road Transport Corporation and asked to start it soon. On Wednesday, the commissioner inspected the Patliputra bus terminal and directed the officials to further improve the passenger facilities. He also asked to start operating prepaid taxis on rent and make arrangements for parking.

The road going from Krishna Niketan via Nandlal Chhapra will be widened

To reach the bus stand from the city, NH-30 four-lane Krishna Niketan via Nandlal Chhapra road should be made two-lane with paved shoulder and used as an alternative route. The commissioner expressed displeasure over the slow progress of the construction of Terminal 3 and Terminal 4. He directed the executing agency to complete the work of both the terminals by August 22 on priority basis. During the inspection, the commissioner was told that the acquisition of five acres of land for the terminal is in the final stage. He asked to make an estimate for the construction of platforms, roads etc. and dedicate it to the department.

Three passenger sheds will be built

The commissioner instructed to construct three passenger sheds soon to save the passengers from the scorching heat. Every passenger shed should have toilet, drinking water and bathroom facilities. He directed the implementing agency to hand over the toilets and drinking water facilities built inside the bus terminal to the Urban Development and Housing Department within three days. He asked for the construction of toilets, drinking water and bathrooms on the empty space between Block-A ramp to the elevated road, water post on the empty floor between Terminal-1 and 2 and water post under the terminal and elevated corridor. Said to keep CCTV functional at all important places and keep the security system strong. Instructed to construct police barrack and duty post, develop conference hall in the campus. Ticket counter, retail shop, dormitory, canteen, eating house, bank, office etc. should be developed.

The commissioner asked to start operating prepaid taxis on rent and to make arrangements for parking in the premises. The place should be marked for Ola and Uber. During the inspection, DM Dr. Chandrashekhar Singh told that the administration is trying to improve passenger facilities at Patliputra Bus Terminal.

There should be an alternative way to go to the bus terminal

The commissioner asked to ensure proper traffic management near Patliputra bus terminal. To overcome the problem of jam, the road going from Krishna Niketan via Nandlal Chhapra can be considered to be used as an alternative route by making it two lane with paved shoulder. The road passing through the dumping yard from NH-30 four lane (service road) can be developed into intermediate lane. The commissioner asked the concerned authorities to submit a report on this. There should be no problem of water logging around the terminal. Green area should be developed around.
