Tesla offered – PTI

Nitin Gadkari had offered, Elon Musk refused

Earlier, the Center had advised Tesla to set up a local manufacturing plant if it wanted to sell EVs in India. Union minister Nitin Gadkari had said that Tesla would be welcome in India if it made EVs locally and did not import them from China. Elon Musk declined the offer, saying, “Tesla will not set up a manufacturing plant at any location where we are not allowed to sell and service cars first.”

Tesla officials met PMO officials

After hectic lobbying until the beginning of last year, Tesla’s new move does not include talk of reducing import duties.
