The Ahmedabad-Mehsana highway passing through Kalol has become an accident zone. A week ago, six people were killed in an accident between an ST bus and a luxury bus. The series of accidents on the toll road did not seem to stop when an accident took place on Tuesday night near the Kalol GIDC gate of ST going from Sanchore to Ahmedabad. In which the bus driver died, while 19 passengers were referred to Kalol Community Health Center for treatment with minor injuries.

many innocent people are dying

The number of vehicles on Kalol Highway is increasing day by day. The Ahmedabad-Mehsana four lane highway built 20 years ago is becoming narrow due to the passing of lakhs of vehicles. The state government has announced to make the highway six-lane twice in the budget, but it is not being widened. Because of which accidents keep happening on State Highway 41, due to which many innocent lives are being lost.

The truck standing in front hit hard

An accident took place between two trucks and ST bus on Tuesday night near Kalol workshop. A truck was passing by pulling another truck, when the Sanchore-Ahmedabad ST bus coming from behind hit it. The truck parked in front was damaged in the collision. The collision was so severe that the front portion of the ST bus was blown away. In the accident, ST bus driver Prafulsinh Chauhan died on the spot and 19 passengers received minor injuries.

108 ambulance was called and rescue operation started

A crowd of accident victims gathered and 108 ambulances were called and rescue operations were started. After the incident, 108 Pilot Maneklal and EMT Mukeshbhai Sutaria admitted the injured to Kalol Group Health Center and Referral Hospital for treatment. The injured were treated at the referral hospital. The ST bus driver died and his body was brought for postmortem.

Fear of second accident in a week

Road jam has become a problem for the highway drivers. Due to frequent accidents, the government is being demanded to take appropriate steps to prevent accidents. People suggest that the four-lane highway which is getting narrow should be widened by converting it into six-lane and maintained properly. This is the second accident in a week. Earlier, there was an accident between ST bus and Luxri.

Accidents increased due to inaction of toll company GRICL

Gujarat Road and Infrastructure Company Limited has all the responsibility of Ahmedabad-Mehsana Highway passing through Kalol. It has come to the fore that the company is not paying any heed to the complaints. There is a lot of pressure on Ambika Highway and drama is being done to remove it. After a few days these pressures return to the status quo.

There is no way for other vehicles when the bus stops

Ambika bus stand being narrow, if a bus stops then there is no way left for other vehicles. If this pressure is removed and the service road is taken back and the main highway is widened, vehicles can move easily. Private vehicle drivers also park their vehicles at Ambika and pick up passengers. It has become necessary to curb this activity. Apart from this, there has also been a question as to when GRICL will take steps to remove street lights from the highway, the menace of stray cattle has become permanent.
