Surat: Lawyers suggest seven alternative sites instead of new court building in Jiav-Budiya

Presently Surat District Chief Court building located at Athwa Lines is protesting against shifting it to new court building at Jiyav-Budiya due to its small size. A committee consisting of council members and office bearers of the Surat District Bar Association submitted a report today as per the order of the Acting Chief Justice of the High Court to report at an alternative venue following protests by lawyers. Seeking allotment of seven alternate sites nearby in Surat city, Surat District Sessions Judge Vimal K. The report has been handed over to Vyas.

In the general meeting of the lawyers held on 18-6-19 and 28-2-23 to protest against the shifting of the Eighth Lines Court Building to Jiav-Budiya, instead of going to the said place, the lawyers demanded to allot an alternative place. Under which, on April 26, President of Surat District Bar Association, Parsottam Rana, Minister Himanshu Patel, Vice President Amar V. Patel and a delegation of prominent lawyers, Acting Chief Justice of the High Court, A.K. J. Desai and Unit Judge Biren Vaishnav. Keeping a positive attitude towards the demand, he directed to send a report through the Surat District Magistrate along with the District Judge regarding the alternative place of 50 thousand square meters for the proposed new court building.

In pursuance of which the members of the Court Committee including the office bearers of the Bar Association, Uday Patel, Bijesh Patel, Jitendra Giniya, Rameshbhai Korat etc. have tried their best to find more than seven alternative places required for the court building on the basis of revenue. And requested the city planner, the officials of the Government Bar Association, the members of the court committee etc. to allot the court building at an alternative place after considering the necessary.

It is suggested to allocate this place for the new court building.

Bharthana-Vesu Survey No. 8 has total land of 54,228 Sq.  A total of 41,481 square meters of land has been sought for allotment in Bharthana-Vesu survey number 105.  Vesu-Bhimrad Survey No-5, Randha Vesu 28, Gaviyar-Vanta-Magdalla 32, Pal 74, which is running as Draft TP, Plan in Govt. Office.
