Delhi: Modi government gift to farmers, approval for fertilizer subsidy of Rs 1.08 lakh crore in Kharif season

1.08 lakh subsidy on Phosphate, Potash and Urea

In the meeting of the Union Cabinet, the proposal to give subsidy of Rs 38,000 crore on phosphate and potash fertilizers to the farmers for the Kharif season 2023-24 was approved. In this way, the total subsidy expenditure of the government for the Kharif season will increase to Rs 1.08 lakh crore. Prior to this, a subsidy of Rs 70,000 crore on urea has already been announced in the budget.

Fertilizers and Chemicals Minister Mansukh Mandaviya gave information

Giving information about this decision taken in the cabinet, Mandaviya said, “A total of Rs 1.08 lakh crore will be spent on fertilizer subsidy in the Kharif season of April, 2023-March, 2024.” Along with this, he said that the maximum amount of fertilizers will be spent. There will be no change in retail prices (MRP) during this period. At present, the price of urea is Rs 276 per bag while DAP is being sold at Rs 1,350 per bag. About 12 crore farmers are expected to benefit from the fertilizer subsidy
