Gautam Gambhir, former India veteran batsman, BJP MP and mentor of Lucknow Super Giants in the current season of IPL, has sued media organization Punjab Kesari for defamation of Rs 2 crore. Gambhir has filed this case in the Delhi High Court. Now this matter will be heard today (Wednesday). Gambhir has got a case registered against him for publishing wrong articles.
The complaint filed by Gautam Gambhir will be heard by Justice Chandra Dhari Singh in the Delhi High Court. Cricketer-turned-politician Gautam Gambhir has sued the newspaper’s editor Aditya Chopra as well as reporters Amit Kumar and Imran Khan, alleging that they defamed his journalism by publishing several malicious and derogatory articles systematically targeting him. Freedom has been misused.
On the basis of these allegations, the MP from East Delhi has demanded a compensation of Rs 2 crore. He also prayed that the newspaper should tender an unconditional apology and the same should be published in all the newspapers (including digital editions) circulated by Punjab Kesari.
Let us tell you that Punjab Keshari had recently targeted Gambhir in one of his news and said that ‘Bhishmasur became for the missing MP of Delhi, Lucknow Super Giants’. Significantly, Gambhir has been in the news a lot in IPL 2023. Actually, there was a heated debate between Gambhir and Kohli in the match played between Lucknow and RCB this season. The video of this debate went viral on social media.
