Beijing, May 17 (Hindustan Times). A Chinese boat capsized in the middle of the Indian Ocean. Because of this, 39 people aboard went missing. Rescue operations are underway to find them. This is a fishing boat (U028). The crew consists of 17 Chinese, 17 Indonesians and five Filipinos.

President Xi Jinping issued an order to activate the emergency procedure mechanism as soon as he received the information. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the Ministry of Transport, and the Shandong provincial government have been instructed to monitor the situation. Coordinate with international search and rescue teams. The Ministry of External Affairs and concerned embassies abroad have also been instructed to coordinate with local authorities to assist in the search and rescue operation.
