China: Fishing boat sinks in Indian Ocean, 39 people missing, rescue operation underway

Chinese Fishing Boat Sinks: 39 members of the crew aboard have gone missing after a Chinese fishing boat sank in the central part of the Indian Ocean. China’s official media gave information about this incident today. According to state-run CGTN news, the crew members include 17 from China, 17 from Indonesia and 5 from the Philippines. The boat sinking incident took place at around 3 am yesterday.

Order to make every possible effort to search for missing people

Meanwhile, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang have ordered an all-out effort to find the missing. After the incident, Xi instructed relevant departments to immediately activate emergency response mechanisms, the state-run Xinhua news agency reported. The vessel, Lupenglaiyuanyu No. 8, was operated by Penglaiyingyu Company Limited and operated in the maritime zone of the eastern province of Shandong.

Reasons could not be ascertained
